This is the standard design for Pinakol called Pakazan, only the colour combinations sometimes changed. Each of the figures that used in the design of a Pinakol have its own meaning. Lets me introduce the four basic figures that we usually use to design the pinakol from the left to the right.

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp0.blogger.com/_UEdSSEhqnIw/R26351ApVoI/AAAAAAAAAAo/_CXisMbWpRo/s320/pinakol.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5147253628241270402" />
At the left is a Rungus man called Tinogulun. The second is a spear for catching fish called an Inompuling. The third figure is a flower called a Vinusak. And the fourth figure is Tinugarang, a dangerous river animal.

I think there a story behind this traditional beadwork but I never dig it from my mom :-P . And never think about it before. Well I think now I will have an assignment to do if I go back to my hometown.

Now Pinakol have various morden design. I will show it here once I have the picture. Pinakol usually used as a welcome gift for VVIP person. I once saw it in TV used to welcome Pak Lah during his visit in Sabah but unfotunately I didn't capture the photo so I can't show it here.

Contact me if your interested: craftsite@hotmail.com
